THE SALVATION ARMY HOSTS DISASTER TRAINING SUMMIT
Encourages communities to be ready for 2017 hurricane season

WHAT:The Salvation Army, one of the nation’s largest and longest-serving charitable disaster     responders, is getting ready for the 2017 hurricane season and other future disasters by training nearly 400 disaster responders. The Disaster Training Summit includes a keynote address from former FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate and an outdoor display of more than 20 specialized pieces of disaster equipment.
WHEN:Monday, May 22, 12:00 – 8:00 p.m., and Tuesday, May 23, 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

INTERVIEWS:

On Monday, May 22 from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m., the following disaster response leaders will be available for interviews:

  • Craig Fugate, former FEMA Administrator
  • Bryan Koon, Director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management
  • Various Emergency Disaster Services Personnel from The Salvation Army’s response efforts for the Haiti Earthquake, Hurricane Katrina, 9/11, Hurricane Sandy, Orlando Pulse Shooting, Oklahoma City Tornadoes, Hurricane Matthew and more.
